What is WDD WordPress plugin development?

WDD WordPress plugin development is WebDevDoer’s practice of building small, focused WordPress plugins that solve one problem well. Eight of them are free to download, each with its own documentation, covering custom code, admin cleanup, security headers, redirect chains, file permissions, post ordering, back-to-top navigation and multilingual switching. Custom plugins for client sites are built the same way.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WDD WordPress Plugin FAQs

Yes. All eight WDD plugins are free to download from this page. There is no account to create and no paywall: download the zip file and install it like any other WordPress plugin.

Download the plugin zip from its card in the catalog above. In wp-admin, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, choose the zip file, then install and activate it. The options appear on the plugin's own settings page.

Each plugin card in the catalog has a Documentation link with step-by-step installation and configuration instructions, so you can read how it works before installing it.

Eight plugins are available: WDD Custom Code Manager, WDD Back to Top, WDD Admin Cleaner, WDD Drag & Drop Post Order, WDD Header Security Guard, WDD Redirect Chain Fixer, WDD File Permission Reset and WDD Polylang Floating Language Switcher.

They are standalone plugins and do not depend on a specific theme. Plugins that add something visible on the front end, such as Back to Top or the language switcher, may need a quick check against your theme. Each plugin's documentation lists what to expect, and testing on a staging copy first is always a good idea.

To update, upload the newer zip through Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin and choose to replace the current version. To remove a plugin, deactivate it on the Plugins screen and then delete it.

WDD plugins are lightweight and single-purpose, so each one does a specific job instead of loading a large feature set. As with any plugin, test it on a staging copy first if your site is busy or heavily customised. If speed is a concern, I can also help with WordPress speed optimization.

Yes. Each plugin solves a separate problem, so they are designed to sit side by side. For example, you can use WDD Admin Cleaner to tidy the dashboard alongside WDD Custom Code Manager to manage your snippets.

Yes, a backup before installing any plugin is good practice. It matters most for plugins that change how your site behaves at a deeper level, such as WDD Header Security Guard, WDD Redirect Chain Fixer and WDD File Permission Reset.

Yes. WDD Polylang Floating Language Switcher is built for WordPress sites that already use Polylang. It adds a floating, mobile-first language switcher on top of the languages you have configured there.

Custom PHP can break a site if it contains an error, so add snippets one at a time, keep a recent backup and test on staging when you can. Only add code from sources you trust, and use the snippet toggle to switch a snippet off if something goes wrong.

Deactivate the plugin from the Plugins screen. If you cannot reach wp-admin, rename the plugin's folder inside wp-content/plugins using your hosting file manager or FTP, then restore your backup if needed. You can also contact me and I will help you track down the cause.

Yes. I design and build custom WordPress plugins, from small utilities to integrations and admin tools, using the same lightweight, single-purpose approach as the WDD plugins.

Use the contact page and describe what the plugin should do. I will reply with the scope and the next steps.

Pricing depends on the features, integrations and testing involved. After reviewing your requirements I provide a clear fixed-price proposal before any work starts.

Yes. I can debug conflicts and errors or add missing features to an existing plugin. See the WordPress bug fixing service for details.

Describe the problem the plugin should solve, where it should appear on your site, any plugins or services it must work with (for example WooCommerce or Polylang) and any deadline. The clearer the brief, the more accurate the scope and proposal.

Yes. WooCommerce and multilingual setups can be part of the scope. Mention them in your request so compatibility is planned and tested from the start.
